There are strange things that puzzle me, like the lack of alcohol sold in the super markets, sour oranges or the early closing times of bookstores.

But there are other things that are exciting. I get to use fluffy jackets, warm sweaters and colorful scarfs. I see change in the weather. And I feel like I'm basked in nature here. Wow, look at the amount of trees everywhere!

Of course, my course load is preventing me from being homesick by piling up more work to keep me busy. I also receive weekly calls from my parents and also try to talk to my friends and family online. I just wished that my internet connection was better. I'm looking into remedying that.

Misadventures in Academia 02

I had a little outburst today. Given, I was taking TOO long to set up the experiment, I should have prepared before hand, and I was ignoring shortcuts given to me by my mentor. But I stuck to my guns, because I felt like this was a process- however painful- I had to go through in order to develop as a PhD.Although I confess, I feel like I'm very slow on the uptake.

Thank you for the encouraging words on my previous entry of self doubt. I still suffer from it and it drives me to think that my peers share the same disparaging opinion. However, I'm sure they are busy with themselves, and that I should get over my insecurities and focus on what is being taught.
